About Us

Your Local Broomfield HVAC Experts

Broomfield is the only consolidated city-county in the Denver metro, which is a minor detail that actually matters for HVAC permitting. Unlike Westminster, which spans Adams and Jefferson counties, or Aurora, which sprawls across three counties, every Broomfield address goes through a single permitting authority. This simplifies the process and eliminates the jurisdiction delays that sometimes affect installations in other cities. The bulk of our Broomfield work comes from the builder-grade replacement wave in the master-planned communities along the US-36 corridor. Broadlands, McKay Landing, and Anthem were all built between 1996 and 2015 with builder-grade HVAC equipment that was designed to pass code and hit a price point, not to last 25 years. Those systems are now failing in volume, and most need complete replacement rather than repair. When we replace these systems, we rerun the load calculation from scratch - original builder sizing assumed unfinished basements and fewer occupants than many of these homes have today. Our Denver shop is about 25 minutes from most Broomfield neighborhoods, which puts it on the outer edge of our service area but within comfortable range for installation scheduling and follow-up.

HVAC Challenges in Broomfield's Open Prairie

5,340 ft elevation
  • Northwest Wind Exposure: Broomfield sits on the open plains with no terrain protection from northwest cold fronts. Homes in Broadlands and Anthem are fully exposed to wind that drives infiltration rates 10-15% higher than sheltered suburbs to the south. Manual J calculations must account for site-specific wind exposure, or heating systems will fall short on the coldest, windiest nights.

  • Builder-Grade Replacement Wave in Broadlands and McKay Landing: The 1996-2010 construction in Broadlands and McKay Landing used builder-grade Goodman, Lennox, and York systems at 80% AFUE with 10-13 SEER condensers. These are 15-25 years old and failing in high volume. Original sizing was often conservative - after basements were finished and additional square footage added, many systems are undersized for the home's current footprint.

  • Consolidated City-County Permitting: Broomfield is its own county, which simplifies the permit process. Unlike Arvada or Westminster that straddle county lines, every Broomfield address goes through a single permitting authority. This eliminates the jurisdiction confusion that can delay installations in other cities.

  • HOA Landscape in Master-Planned Communities: Broadlands, McKay Landing, Anthem, and Interlocken all have HOA provisions for outdoor equipment. Noise limits, placement setbacks, and visual screening requirements vary by community. We verify HOA requirements during the quoting process.

Local Climate

Broomfield sits at 5,340 feet on the open high plains north of Denver with a clear view of the Flatirons to the west. Unlike Boulder or Golden, there is no foothill terrain to the immediate west to moderate incoming weather - Broomfield takes the full force of northwest cold fronts and the Chinook wind events that come off the Front Range. Winter lows regularly reach 0-5 degrees F, and the open prairie exposure means wind chill can drive effective temperatures well below zero. The US-36 corridor creates a wind tunnel effect through the commercial zones between Interlocken and Flatiron Crossing, and neighborhoods along that corridor experience higher infiltration rates than subdivisions set back from the highway. Summer temperatures reach the low-to-mid 90s with low humidity - typical Front Range conditions that demand properly sized AC but not the extreme cooling loads seen in lower-elevation cities to the south.

Why ChooseUniColorado

Your Trusted Broomfield HVAC Experts

1

Builder-Grade Replacement Experience: Broadlands, McKay Landing, and Anthem are deep into the equipment replacement cycle. We know the builder-grade systems in these communities, the common sizing issues, and the electrical panel situations before we arrive.

2

Single Permitting Authority: Broomfield's consolidated city-county means one permitting process for every address. No county boundary confusion or delays.

3

Wind Exposure Sizing: Broomfield's open prairie location requires site-specific wind exposure adjustments in load calculations. We account for this rather than using generic metro-area defaults.

4

HOA Coordination: We verify equipment requirements for Broadlands, McKay Landing, Anthem, and Interlocken HOAs during the quoting process, not on install day.

5

Full Xcel Rebate Support: Broomfield is Xcel Energy territory. We verify heat pump rebates, HEAR income-qualified incentives, and Colorado state credits for every installation.

6

Honest Scheduling: Our shop is about 25 minutes from Broomfield. We schedule installations within 5-7 business days and don't promise same-day service.

Local History

The Story of Broomfield

Broomfield began as a small agricultural community between Denver and Boulder, incorporated in 1961 as development along the US-36 corridor accelerated. For decades, the city was split across four counties - Boulder, Adams, Jefferson, and Weld - which created administrative challenges that led residents to push for consolidation. In 2001, Broomfield became Colorado's 64th county and the state's only combined city-county government, simplifying governance and services. The opening of the FlatIron Crossing mall in 2000 and the development of the Interlocken business park established Broomfield as a major commercial center along the US-36 Tech Center corridor. Today Broomfield is home to roughly 75,000 residents and continues growing westward toward the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge, with new developments like Baseline adding housing near the Flatiron Crossing area.
