What Is RENU?
RENU (Residential Energy Upgrade) is a loan program administered by the Colorado Clean Energy Fund and backed by the State of Colorado. It helps homeowners finance energy-efficient home improvements at interest rates lower than most personal loans or credit cards.
Unlike Wells Fargo or Synchrony financing, RENU is not tied to a specific equipment brand. Any Energy Star certified HVAC equipment qualifies, including Carrier, Mitsubishi, and Bosch systems that UniColorado installs. RENU also covers solar, EV chargers, insulation, and windows, so if you're doing a broader energy upgrade, one loan can cover it all.

Install - No Upfront Cost
No deposit. Payments start after installation. The credit union pays us directly.
Eligibility Requirements
- Colorado homeowner (primary, secondary, or income property)
- Single-family home, townhouse, or condo without shared HVAC
- Energy Star certified equipment required
- RENU-approved contractor (UniColorado is approved)
- Existing home (not new construction)
Combine RENU with Colorado Rebates
Most customers apply Colorado HVAC rebates first to reduce their project cost, then finance the remainder with RENU. A $15,000 heat pump installation might qualify for $6,750+ in Xcel rebates, leaving only $8,250 to finance.
